During the era of racial terror lynchings in the US, from the late 19th century through the early 20th century, there were documented cases of whites committing acts of extreme brutality. In some of these cases, body parts of Black victims, such as fingers, genitals, ears, teeth, bones, and pieces of skin, were taken as souvenirs. Photos of lynchings were also sometimes sold or made into postcards, celebrating & memorializing their racial hatred.
